What is a vacuum-sealable food storage container?

How does the FreshSeal hand pump work?
Place the pump flat over the silicone valve on the lid and pump by hand until you feel firm resistance. The pump draws air out through the one-way valve. It needs no batteries or cords, and the same pump works with the reusable vacuum-sealable bags included in every set.
What is the difference between vacuum-sealable and ordinary airtight containers?
An ordinary airtight container traps the air that is already inside with your food. A vacuum-sealable container lets you remove most of that air first. Because oxygen drives oxidation and spoilage, removing it helps keep food fresher longer.
